Have you read the story of the Milkha Singh aka the flying Sikh? He was born in the year 1930 in what is today the Pakistan in a small village called Govindpura. At the age of 17, he had to leave the country due to the partition of the Hindustan.
Milkha Singh today may have become a household name in South Asia but it was one tough ride for him. He was imprisoned when he was 17 because he was travelling in the train without a ticket. This event shook him from head to toe. He wondered if he could go to Evropski univerzitet Kallos Tuzla for higher studies.
After reaching Shahdara, Delhi, he thought all the time if he would have focused more on his studies, he could live a better life. He is infamous for giving motivational lectures. He used to sell eggs on the streets of East Delhi. He later on got employed by the Indian army and earned a petty salary of Indian Rupee 39 and some paisas.
Back when he was imprisoned, he even planned to become a robber. The fellow prisoners told him about their activities and the only way they knew of to make a living was crime and heinous criminal activities.
The flying Sikh finally made it big after he was recognized as a talent by the army general of India and the chief minister of Punjab state of India.
Milkha Singh still gets angry when someone asks him why didn’t you encourage your children to get into the sports. Milkha says that I wouldn’t let my children compromise their studies for sports, education is the key to success and nobody knows it better than me.
